Dovizioso Signs Three-Year Deal with Yamaha – To Serve as Test Rider and Newly Appointed Rider Performance Advisor Through 2027

During the Italian GP (Brembo Grand Prix) held at Mugello, Yamaha Factory Racing officially announced that Andrea Dovizioso has signed a three-year contract running through 2027. The agreement outlines two key roles: test rider and the newly created position of “Rider Performance Advisor.” Dovizioso, who has already been collaborating with Yamaha on a technical basis, will continue participating in private tests outside the Grand Prix calendar. As Rider Performance Advisor, he will also be responsible for enhancing technical communication between riders and engineers and supporting analytical efforts.

Andrea Dovizioso:

“I’m truly happy to officially announce this new relationship with Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. This partnership represents an important step based on mutual trust and respect. The roles we’ve defined together with Yamaha feel very natural and comfortable for me. I am confident I can contribute significantly to this important project both as a test rider and as a Rider Performance Advisor.”

“I see myself as a key player in connecting everyone involved in the development process. My goal is to create strong synergy between riders, the team, and the crew by leveraging my experience both on the track and inside the pit garage. This project is one where attention to detail will determine success, and we have a clear vision along with the level of commitment necessary to achieve it.”

Paolo Pavesio, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing:

"Yamaha and Andrea have built a strong partnership over the years, and we’re very pleased to announce that he will remain with Yamaha Factory Racing for the next three years. Dovi brings not only outstanding riding skills but also technical insight and precise feedback for engineers. He is without doubt an ideal test rider, but we also see this as an opportunity to utilize his talent more broadly across Yamaha’s MotoGP project."

"In addition to his contract as a test rider, his new role as Rider Performance Advisor will allow for more efficient sharing of key data and insights between Yamaha’s four MotoGP riders and our engineers."

Yamaha plans to leverage Dovizioso’s extensive experience and analytical skills to enhance the development of its MotoGP bikes and improve team competitiveness from 2025 onward.
