Franco Morbidelli Overcomes Struggles to Claim Podium: “Incredibly Happy”
Franco Morbidelli returned to the podium after a long absence, expressing his immense joy by saying, “I’m incredibly happy.” Despite battling illness over the weekend and starting from Q1 in qualifying, Morbidelli made a strong comeback in the race. Opting for soft tires, he aggressively gained positions early on and managed to control his pace effectively, securing his first podium finish in 1,414 days.
Franco Morbidelli’s Comments
“I’m finally back on the podium, and it feels amazing. This weekend was really tough—I was feeling quite sick yesterday, and starting from Q1 made things even more difficult. I chose the soft tires today, so it was important to recover as many positions as possible early on.”
“After that, I was able to control the race and maintain a good pace. I couldn’t catch up to the Márquez brothers, but I could see they were having a great battle. Moving forward, I want to improve my time attacks and how I start the weekends.”
“Both the team and I have connections to South America, so achieving this result here makes me really happy. I want to dedicate this podium to everyone at VR46.”
