Spanish GP Practice 4th Place: Marc Márquez Says “Qualifying Will Be Key — Front Row Start Essential for the Sprint”

Marc Márquez Reflects on a Challenging Day, Stresses Importance of Qualifying Position

Marc Márquez looked back on the opening day at Jerez as a difficult one. Despite losing a significant amount of time early in FP1, he gradually found his rhythm during practice and, although he struggled with setup direction at times, ultimately finished with a good feeling.
Tomorrow, he plans to focus on further refining the current direction.
He also mentioned Álex Márquez, who despite a crash, recorded the fastest time, and emphasized that with rising temperatures making conditions tougher, qualifying position will be absolutely crucial at the tight Jerez circuit. Securing a front row start for the Sprint Race, he said, will be key to the weekend.

Marc Márquez:

“Today was a tough day. I lost quite a bit of time at the beginning of FP1.
During practice, I was able to gradually get into the rhythm.
There were moments where we got a bit lost with the setup, but overall, it ended up well.
Tomorrow, we’ll continue working to improve along the current direction.
At one point today, I was thinking so much about what to tell the mechanics to fix that I accidentally entered the Gresini pit instead of ours! (laughs)”

“Despite his crash, Álex was the fastest today.Tomorrow, the temperatures will rise and everything will become more difficult. In the Sprint Race, securing a front-row start will be crucial, so qualifying will be even more important this weekend.”
