Bezzecchi Returns to the Podium After Difficult Start at Austrian GP | MotoGP 2025
After a challenging start to the weekend, Marco Bezzecchi fought back with determination to claim a well-earned third place at the Austrian Grand Prix. A difficult Friday gave way to progress in qualifying, where he secured his first pole position in recent memory. In the race, he battled with the front runners, managing early race issues with composure, but eventually had to concede positions to Marc Márquez and Fermín Aldeguer in the closing stages.
Joy of Pole Position After Friday Struggles
“Friday was tough, no doubt. It wasn’t a good situation to start the weekend with, and recovering from that wasn’t easy. But luckily, we managed to improve and make another step in qualifying. I honestly can’t remember the last time I took pole, so that made me really happy.”
Wheel-to-Wheel Fights with Márquez and Aldeguer
“It was a good race — I got to battle with the top guys. In the middle of the race, I started to feel some issues. I tried to control things, especially the tires, even though I knew Marc had a bit more pace. At one point he closed in rapidly, and I tried to fight back under braking, but it wasn’t enough. I had a short battle with him, but then I saw Fermín coming with incredible speed and realized, ‘Today, third place is the best I can do.’”
Exceeding Expectations at a Difficult Track
“Massimo told me earlier this weekend not to expect much because Aprilia has always struggled at this track. So to end up on the podium is a really good result. Sure, Ducati had an edge at the end of the race, but I was able to enjoy racing at the front. I want to keep improving from here.”
Adapting Riding Style to a New Machine
“Compared to my Ducati days, my riding style has definitely changed a bit. But that’s natural when you switch bikes. I’ve also been adjusting how I use my body and my position on the bike — it’s all part of adapting to the Aprilia.”
