Marc Márquez Equals Ángel Nieto’s 90 Wins

Marc Márquez achieved the 90th victory of his career, tying with Spanish legend Ángel Nieto, a feat he described as “a great honor.” However, he was quick to praise his younger brother, Álex Márquez, for his performance, saying, “His smooth and consistent riding in today’s race was outstanding.”

During the race, Márquez had a near-crash moment at Turn 6 but gradually closed the gap as the tires wore down. On his second attack, he took the lead and secured the win.

Marc Márquez’s Comments

“Above all, it’s an incredible honor to match Ángel Nieto’s 90 wins. He is a legend not only in Spain but also in the world of motorcycle racing. However, more than that, Álex’s performance today was exceptional.”

“Throughout the race, he maintained smooth and consistent riding with great cornering speed. I had a big slide at Turn 6 and even thought that finishing second wouldn’t be bad.”

“But as the race progressed and the tires wore down, I started to catch up with Álex and launched my attack. The first attempt didn’t go well, but the second one was successful. It’s been an amazing weekend, and I’m grateful for the team’s work. Although we struggled during the race week, the team helped us achieve the best result.”

“Today, Álex likely set up his bike to move smoothly through the corners. In contrast, I focused on a setup for hard braking. When I was behind him, I could leverage that braking strength, but his smoothness was evident.”

“While riding behind him, I kept thinking about the risky moment at Turn 6. I knew he was faster in left-hand corners, which made overtaking difficult. There were several corners where he had the upper hand, but my mind was occupied with figuring out how to improve at Turn 6.”

“I hope to return to Argentina again. But I believe race tracks should be open not only in Europe, America, and Asia but worldwide. MotoGP is probably aiming to reduce the number of European races and expand to new regions. America and South America are huge markets.”
