Ready to Start from Scratch at COTA
Alex Márquez expressed satisfaction with having overcome last year’s issues and achieved better results in the first two rounds of the season. He noted that his feeling with the bike has been improving with each weekend and that his understanding of the machine has deepened. Although he admitted that Austin is a track where he hasn’t had much success and has often been unlucky, he is determined to build up points from scratch—just like he did in Argentina. While keeping a close eye on his older brother Marc, who is particularly strong at this circuit, Alex emphasized his own focus on doing his job and getting the best results possible. He also mentioned that the unchanging layout of COTA and Marc’s advice would be valuable assets for his challenge there.
Alex Márquez:
“The first two races ended on a good note. These were two races where I struggled last year, so I’m happy to have achieved better results this season. My feeling has been improving every weekend, and I’m gaining a deeper understanding of the bike. I had a good feeling right from the first test, but it has continued to get better. Austin isn’t a track I’m particularly good at—it’s also been an unlucky one for me. But just like in Thailand and Argentina, I want to build up my results from scratch here. I aim to collect as many points as possible in every race.”
“Many riders will show their speed here. Of course, Marc will probably be even faster. But I’m just focusing on doing my own job. Marc is really strong at this track, and I know exactly where he’s fast in each corner, so I’ll be keeping a close eye on his riding. That said, what’s most important is to focus on our own work and aim for the best possible results.”
“Every track offers a great chance to train, but performance depends on your feeling at the time, the bike, conditions, and layout. At COTA, I’ve definitely received a lot of advice from Marc, and since the layout hasn’t changed, I think that will really help.”
“Martín only took part in the first test, so he doesn’t really know how the team works. In that sense, I think being in the COTA paddock will be a great opportunity for him to really understand how the team operates.”
