Round 13 of the 2025 Season: Marquez, Bagnaia, and Ducati Return to Spielberg for the Austrian GP – Ducati Aims for 10th Straight Win in Austria
As the 13th round of the 2025 MotoGP season approaches, Marc Márquez, Francesco Bagnaia, and the Ducati Lenovo Team are back at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix. For Ducati, this circuit has become a true “conquered territory,” where the manufacturer has claimed nine consecutive victories since 2016.
That winning legacy began with Andrea Iannone in 2016, followed by Andrea Dovizioso in 2017, 2019, and 2020. Jorge Lorenzo took the win in 2018, Jorge Martín triumphed at the 2021 Styrian GP, and Bagnaia secured a hat trick with victories in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Ducati riders recently conducted a test session at Hungary’s Balaton Park last week, where Marc Márquez resumed his campaign. Although he has yet to win in Austria, Márquez currently leads the championship standings with 381 points and heads into the second half of the season eyeing further records. Ducati also leads both the Constructors’ Championship (430 points) and the Teams’ Championship (594 points).
Bagnaia also took part in the Balaton Park test and expressed confidence ahead of the season’s second half, which begins at one of his strongest circuits. Though he missed out on pole position to Jorge Martín at last year’s Austrian GP, Bagnaia dominated the race to take a convincing win.
Marc Márquez
"After the summer break, I’m excited to be back on the bike. Although I haven’t had major success at this circuit, the Austrian track always delivers close battles down to the final corner and final meter—it’s a special place for me. I want to kick off the second half of the season in the best possible way."
Francesco Bagnaia
"This circuit suits Ducati extremely well, and we’ve had perfect results here over the past three seasons. I’m happy to restart the season at this track. We’ve got a series of technical and spectacular circuits coming up, many of which I really enjoy, so I can’t wait to get going."
