Crash Ends Promising Race, but Progress Is Evident
Joan Mir battled inside the top 10 from the start, demonstrating clear progress from last season. However, while chasing Jack Miller in the final stages, he crashed at the last corner, forcing him to retire from the race. Unable to rejoin, Mir was disappointed not to see the checkered flag but remained confident about the steps forward he and Honda have made. While managing the bike’s heat remains a key challenge, he believes further improvements are on the horizon.
Joan Mir’s Comments
“We had a really good weekend overall, and the race was going well. Until the crash, I felt like I was showing the progress Honda and I have made. I made a small mistake while chasing Jack (Miller), and in these conditions, there was no way to recover.”
“I lost a few positions early on, but I was able to put together a strong race and had a good feeling with the bike. The bike was getting very hot, so we’ll need to work on some solutions for these extreme conditions.”
“Of course, this result is frustrating, but compared to last year’s Thailand GP, the situation is completely different. I can feel that we’re making real progress. This weekend was probably the toughest one we’ll face, and from here, I believe we can build toward much better results.”
