Razgatlıoğlu Triumphs Over Bulega in Epic Duel to Win Portimão Race 1
Race 1 of the 2025 Portimão round turned into a historic head-to-head battle between Toprak Razgatlıoğlu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). From lap 4 to the checkered flag, the two riders traded positions nine times, delivering a breathtaking showdown that captivated everyone watching.
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu:
“The start wasn’t good—I made a mistake. But step by step, I worked my way up and managed to get into a battle with Nicolò. He was riding incredibly well and pushing hard every single lap.”
“In these hot conditions, and especially on corner exits, Ducati definitely had an advantage. Nicolò’s riding was also very strong. We’re still learning with this bike, and tonight we’ll be working on improvements—particularly grip. Overall, though, I’m very happy. It feels good to be back fighting at the front.”
“I had an edge under braking, but especially in the final eight laps, my front grip dropped and I couldn’t push the way I wanted. I kept thinking about how to take the last two corners—what line to use and how to preserve grip.”
“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I’m sure Bulega will come back even stronger. I think it’s going to be another great race for everyone to enjoy.”
