Álex Márquez Reflects on Crash in Front of Home Crowd
After his crash, Álex Márquez watched the other riders from the sidelines, reminding himself that he needed to deliver results once again. Although riding after the crash was not easy, he continued with a margin of caution. However, due to two crashes, he was unable to complete all the necessary work, and tire testing and setup adjustments were postponed to the following day.
He analyzed that the mistake came from feeling overconfident, as the bike felt so good that he lost awareness of the limit and pushed too hard.
Álex Márquez:
“After the crash, I was watching the other riders’ session and kept telling myself that I needed to come back and perform again. Riding after a crash isn’t easy, but I tried to keep a margin while on track.
However, because of the two crashes, I couldn’t get the necessary work done, so we’ll do the tire testing and other tasks tomorrow. We also haven’t been able to test different setups yet, so compared to other riders, we have more work left to do.”
“Today’s mistake happened because the bike was working so well that I became overconfident. I didn’t feel the limit, and that led me to push too hard.
Mistakes like this on Friday can have a big impact on the weekend, so I need to control it better.
Also, since there were so many fans here at my home race, I think I may have been trying too hard.”
“I’m sure my body will be sore tomorrow. But that’s just part of crashing.
In a way, the pain becomes a lesson to myself, so it’s not all bad.”
