Quartararo Dominates Before Heartbreaking DNF at British GP

Fabio Quartararo delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 British Grand Prix, leading the race in dominant fashion before being forced to retire due to a mechanical issue.

After taking the lead from the initial start, Quartararo once again surged to the front following the race restart, overtaking Pecco Bagnaia early and building a 1.2-second gap by the end of lap one. He continued to display qualifying-level pace, maintaining control even as Marco Bezzecchi closed in during the middle stages of the race. Calm under pressure, Quartararo managed the situation with poise.

However, his race came to a sudden end on lap 12 due to a malfunction in the rear height device, forcing him to retire from what had looked to be a sure victory. Despite the disappointment, his performance was widely praised, and he was voted “Rider of the Race” by MotoGP fans for his speed, consistency, and composure.

Fabio Quartararo:

“It was a great race today. Unfortunately, we had an issue with the rear height device. I really believe this was our race. Everything was going smoothly. I was reading the wind well, knew exactly where to push on the brakes—it was all under control.

The bike felt the best it’s been in a long time. I was riding really smoothly and felt the speed.

Of course, I’m super disappointed, but I’m also happy with how I rode. I think we’ve taken a step forward. It’s not enough yet, but we’re definitely getting stronger. This may not have been my career-best race, but it was probably the best in the last three or four years.

I’m disappointed, yes—but I’m looking ahead.”
