Michael Dunlop Clinches Supertwin TT Victory, Becomes All-Time Leader in TT Wins and Podiums – Isle of Man TT 2025
Michael Dunlop (MD Racing Paton) has made history yet again at the Isle of Man TT. With a commanding win in the Metzeler Supertwin TT, Dunlop secured his 31st career TT victory, surpassing the previous all-time record to become the most successful rider in TT history. He also notched his 48th career TT podium, breaking the long-standing mark of 47 held by former teammate John McGuinness MBE.
Dominant from the Start – Dunlop Breaks Records with Blistering Pace
Due to poor weather, the race was shortened from three laps to two and started later than scheduled. Pole-sitter Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing/Aprilia) led the field away, but it was Dunlop who took command at Glen Helen.
From the first lap, Dunlop set an unmatchable pace, opening a 2.2-second lead over Michael Evans (Dafabet Racing Kawasaki). Mike Browne (KMR/Jack Reid Cars Kawasaki) was running third but retired at Douglas Road Corner in Kirk Michael.
By Ballaugh Bridge, Dunlop’s advantage had grown to 5.9 seconds, and at Ramsey it was up to 9.3 seconds. Meanwhile, Evans and Davey Todd (Milenco by Padgetts Paton) fought for second, with Rob Hodson (SMT Racing Paton) close behind in fourth.
Evans and Hodson Celebrate First TT Podiums
Climbing into the Mountain Section, Dunlop overtook Evans on the road and completed the opening lap at 122.006mph. Evans followed at 120.837mph, with Todd (119.836mph) and Hodson (119.686mph) right behind.
On lap two, Dunlop continued to pull away—13.6 seconds ahead at Glen Helen, 17.9 seconds at Ramsey. Behind him, Hodson passed Todd for third and extended his margin at Ballaugh to 3.2 seconds. Todd faded in the second half of the race, slipping out of podium contention.
Dunlop sealed the win with a stunning 122.610mph final lap, his personal best in the class, crossing the line 22.6 seconds ahead of the field. It was a landmark victory—his latest Supertwin TT triumph and record-setting 31st TT win.
Podium and Top Finishers
In an emotional result for the home crowd, Michael Evans—racing on his birthday—secured a brilliant second-place finish, marking his first-ever TT podium. Rob Hodson followed just behind in third, also claiming his maiden podium. Paul Jordan narrowly missed out, finishing 1.7 seconds behind Hodson in fourth.
