Round 3: Americas GP – Luca Marini: “If Everything Clicks, We Can Aim Even Higher” | MotoGP 2025

Luca Marini (Repsol Honda Team) claimed a hard-fought 8th-place finish at the 2025 Americas Grand Prix, earning his best result yet aboard the RC213V. Starting from 7th on the grid, Marini was part of an intense early battle with fellow Honda riders Johann Zarco and Jack Miller. Despite tire degradation in the final laps, he kept his composure and defended his position to the end—moving up to 9th in the overall standings with 20 points.

Soft Tire Strategy and a Composed Ride

Marini opted for a full soft-soft tire combination—a gamble that gave him good early pace but led to grip issues late in the race. Nevertheless, he showed maturity and focus in managing the drop-off, ultimately crossing the line 8th after briefly fighting within reach of the top 5.

Luca Marini:
“The bike is improving race by race, and today we made big steps forward with the setup. The handling—especially on corner entry—felt much better, and riding is starting to feel fun again.

“That said, I made a mistake with the tire choice. We went with softs front and rear, which was the wrong call in today’s conditions. On Friday, the track stayed damp for a long time, but today it dried quickly. Still, I’m happy with the result and the direction we’re heading in.

“If we can get everything to come together, I believe we can aim for much more.”

Marini’s steady rise in form, along with continued development of the Honda package, suggests more is to come as the season heads toward Round 4 in Qatar.
