Round 3: Americas GP – Fabio Quartararo: “I Hope We’re a Bit Luckier in the Next Race” | MotoGP 2025
Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) endured a chaotic and unlucky race day at the 2025 Americas Grand Prix, yet still brought home a 10th-place finish after a string of setbacks—including an unexpected crash on the sighting lap and a bike issue mid-race. Despite the drama, Quartararo showed determination and resilience, salvaging valuable points in challenging conditions.
A Strange Crash, a Hybrid Bike, and a Gritty Ride
Things took a bizarre turn even before the lights went out. On the sighting lap, Quartararo suffered an unexplainable crash on a wet patch of track—while upright and not pushing.
Fabio Quartararo:
“I have no idea why I crashed on the sighting lap. I was upright and not pushing at all when I lost the front. It’s something I really can’t understand.”
With his main bike damaged, the team rushed to convert his second machine from a wet to a dry setup. Due to time constraints, he started the race on what he described as a “hybrid” bike, equipped with a different chassis and swingarm.
Despite the challenge, Quartararo launched well from 11th on the grid and quickly climbed to 7th by the end of lap 1. He fought within the second group battling for 5th, but halfway through the race, a dashboard alert forced the bike into low-power mode. Losing pace, he dropped back to 14th before regaining places in the closing laps as others retired.
Fabio Quartararo (continued):
“It was a really confusing start with the tire changes, and in the end, I had to go out on the second bike with a different chassis and swingarm.
“Honestly, the weekend overall wasn’t bad in terms of performance, but I really hope we’re a bit luckier at the next round.”
