British GP: Álex Márquez Claims Spectacular Sprint Victory at Silverstone, Marc Márquez Finishes Second

Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) secured a stunning victory in the Tissot Sprint at Silverstone. After chasing pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo, he pulled away from championship leader and older brother Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) by over three seconds to clinch his first sprint win since 2023.

Intense Battle from the Start

At the start, Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) grabbed the holeshot. Behind him, three Ducati riders fought for second place. Álex Márquez held off an aggressive outside move from Marc Márquez to secure second. On the Wellington Straight of the opening lap, Marc moved into second, and by the end of the Hangar Straight, he took the lead—showing the dominance of a rider on a six-race sprint win streak.

But Álex was not to be denied this time. After passing Quartararo to move into second, he capitalized on a wide moment by Marc at Turn 3 to snatch the lead. From there, he managed to break free from the fraternal duel and took full control of the race.

Fierce Fight for the Podium: Di Giannantonio Prevails

Further back, the battle for third was red-hot. Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) engaged in a thrilling three-way scrap. Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) and Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), who had a poor start, joined the fray, turning it into a five-rider brawl.

Ultimately, Di Giannantonio edged ahead to secure third place and his first podium since the Austin GP. Bezzecchi’s impressive charge saw him finish fourth, raising expectations for his performance in the main race.
