Marc Márquez Sets the Fastest Time on Day One of the Argentina GP – MotoGP 2025
On the opening day of the 2025 Grand Prix of Argentina, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) once again recorded the fastest time in practice. Márquez displayed his speed from FP1, closely pursued by Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini MotoGP). Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) suffered a late-session crash, which threatened his direct qualification to Q2, but he narrowly avoided being relegated to Q1.

In the afternoon session, Márquez continued to dominate, setting the fastest time again. Johann Zarco (LCR Honda Castrol) and Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) attempted to challenge Márquez, but Zarco crashed at Turn 2, dropping down the rankings. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) switched from used tires to softs and climbed to second place. Bezzecchi briefly set a new lap record with a time of 1’37.510, but Márquez soon reclaimed the top spot with a 1’37.438.
In the final five minutes, Bagnaia, sitting in sixth, crashed at Turn 2 and ended his session early. His Q2 spot seemed uncertain, but Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) moved up to fifth during the last time attack, pushing Bagnaia down to seventh. Bagnaia eventually dropped to ninth as Zarco and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) improved their times, but he managed to secure a place in Q2.
