Michelin to Introduce Optimal Tires for First European Round at Jerez in 2025 MotoGP

Following rounds in Thailand, Argentina, the United States, and Qatar, the 2025 MotoGP World Championship arrives at its first European race: the Spanish Grand Prix (Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0,0). The event will be held at the prestigious Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, located in the Andalusian region. Opened in 1986 and hosting MotoGP every year since 1987, Jerez is a venue rich in tradition.

With a total length of 4.423 km and 13 corners (left and right combined), the technical layout of the track places significant demands on tires through intense acceleration, heavy braking, and constant lateral forces. Michelin, building on the impressive results achieved during last year’s race weekend, will introduce an optimized tire package for the 2025 edition.

Piero Taramasso, Michelin Two-Wheel Motorsport Manager

“Indeed, the surface at Jerez is not particularly aggressive on the tires. However, the continuous load placed on them led us to introduce a slightly harder front compound last year. That proved to be the right decision.”

“Three riders broke the lap record on Friday alone. Despite unstable weather throughout the weekend, once dry conditions returned on Sunday, the race lap record was also broken just two laps before the checkered flag. This demonstrates the durability and performance of our MotoGP tires. We’re truly looking forward to the restart of the European rounds this year and to seeing the passionate Spanish fans again.”

Tire Specifications for the 2025 Spanish GP

For the 2025 Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0,0 de España, Michelin will provide the following MICHELIN Power Slick options to teams:

Front Tires:

  • Three compounds: soft, medium, and hard. All feature a symmetrical construction.

Rear Tires:

  • Two compounds: soft and medium. These feature an asymmetrical design with a harder right side to accommodate the higher number of right-hand corners.

In case of rain, Michelin will also supply the MICHELIN Power Rain tires. The specifications are as follows:

Front and Rear:

  • Two compounds: soft and medium. Both are asymmetrical, with reinforced right sides, mirroring the design approach of the slick tires.

This configuration ensures stable performance and safety in the high-load corners of Jerez, regardless of dry or wet conditions.
